Why choose Backwell School Appropriate Body Services?

Backwell Teaching School is providing Appropriate Body (AB) Services for a range of local Primary and Secondary Schools. This forms part of its North Somerset Teaching Alliance work.

Our team of experienced colleagues have been providing AB Services for over 16 years in the local area.

We quality assure the DfE statutory guidance for Induction of newly qualified teachers, liaising closely with partner schools in providing a high quality programme of monitoring, professional development, support and assessment for NQTs and their Tutors in the induction period.

How do I apply

To register an NQT with our services you can either register using an online form or download and complete a Word document (click on the text to open the online form or to download the word document).

Note

  • Details of how to return the downloaded document are included on the form.
  • At this time it is only possible to register one NQT at a time using the online form.

Once we have received your application we will contact you to confirm registration and explain any further actions.

Packages offered

We offer a flexible range of services, including a service of support for NQTs on short term contracts. NQTs employed for the full induction period have the option of the basic or full package of support.

Induction for Newly Qualified Teachers (England) Statutory Guidance

Induction Tutor Training

This one-day event is designed to provide Induction Tutors, who are responsible for managing the induction of Newly Qualified Teachers in schools, with the necessary knowledge and understanding to fulfil their key role effectively.

The following will be included:

  • the Teachers’ Standards and how they apply for NQTs will be considered
  • how they can be evidenced most effectively
  • what meeting the standards “satisfactorily” will look like;
  • how to efficiently compile evidence to support you and the NQT in this process.

The day will consist of:

  • a mixture of input
  • activities to help support deeper understanding
  • opportunity to share good practice
  • further develop the skills used in the induction process.
